Description

The Delta Controls Model 668 is a flow measuring device used to monitor the flow of fresh, salt, or waste water in an open channel. It accepts level signals from any 4-20 mA level transmitters. It can transmit the flow rate via a 4-20mA current loop and/or a digital communications port. It can also control the action of up to 5 alarm/control relays based on either the level in the channel or flow rate of the water.

Features

Smart functions include: measurement of crest level; characterization and scaling of level to units of flow rate; compensation for submerged flow; transmission of measured values via an isolated 4-20 mA current loop; control of up to five alarms or controls; display of measured values via a 16-character LCD display; and bi-directional communication with a host computer via RS-485 digital interface. Daily flow statistics are kept for the last ten days, and a 4000 point data log is kept in software memory.

All keyboard entered data is stored in a long term battery-backed memory (OK for 10 years) to ensure retention of data upon loss of supply power or removal from service.

The Delta Controls Model 668 directly supports most kinds of open channel primary elements used for measuring flow rate. Any other kind or type of element can be used. A 20-point lookup table of head vs. flow rate can be used to support any flow element whose flow characteristics are known or can be measured.

The Delta Controls Model 668 determines flow by measuring the depth of liquid flowing across a primary element such as a flume or weir. A level transmitter is mounted in the channel. The microprocessor uses the level signal to calculate true flowing head. A second level transmitter can be used to detect downstream head, so as to provide correct for submerged flow conditions.

Flow rate is totalized over time to accumulate actual flow volume (or weight). The accumulated flow can be used to drive an integral or remote electromechanical totalizer and to pace a sampler system.
